Top sites in Prague – The Golden Lane is an alley situated in Prague Citadel. The alley was constructed in the 16th Century, for the sake Rudolf II (The Holy Roman Emperor) guards. The name of the Golden Lane is originated from the fact that in the 17th Century goldsmiths lived there. The Golden Lane include small houses, painted in a range of colors. At first there were houses on either side of the alley, however one side was demolished in the 18th Century. Today the houses are souvenir shops for tourists.
