The Church was expanded in 973, with the expansion of St. Benedict’s Monastery. The Church was revamped after a fire at 1142. Toward the start of the 18th Century, the Chapel of St. John was attached to the Church. Between the years 1887 to 1908, the Church was rebuilt, with an aim, to reconstruct the romanesque design of the Church. Today St. George’s Basilica contains the Bohemian art from the 18th Century.
